GEORGE - IMPOSTURES OF PATRIOTISM

This special edition patch is made with the famous Washington quote "Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism". This is so relevant today as we have leadership that proposes new ideas, radical at times in the name of bettering our nation, taking away freedoms and liberty and done in the name of patriotism. The word "impostures" is not the person pretending, but the idea - or trojan horse that paves the way for change of a new direction.

Brilliant visionary from over two centries ago. What would Washington say today if he had to address the nation and its direction? There has always been leadership that didn't see eye to eye, and didn't like each other at times similar to current times. The ideals of country first, and preservation of liberty for our nations future may have been a bit more of a battle cry back then while in session.

The sickened and divisive political status quo is about division. Breaking the unity of our country - polarizing and typecasting the people to a specific party, liberal, conservative, libertarian, socialist and more - with hopes that we will define ourselves as different from each other and magnify the division nationally to strengthen the growing extreme political and ideological divides of present day.

Movements within these divided political segments come and go in waves trying to grow their political base sometimes becoming more ideologically divisive from one to the next. The current idea and attention given to the Socialism movement is saddening and is being used to try to make the already polarized political landscape even more drastic and radical from one side to the other. Washington was a political champion on the idea of built in failsafes built into our nations architecture, checks and balances in place, and a system of balance so that the people would always have freedom and control of overall direction of the nation. Almost sounds like a wolf in sheeps clothing - socialism trying to sell it as a skewed form patriotism, and what is best for the country.

Unity as a country is suffering and struggling to make common ground politically to keep our great country moving forward in a positive direction. This is a sad to witness currently in our country as many patriots of freedom before us who sacrificed and spilled their blood in glory for their country, sometimes giving the ultimate sacrifice so we can keep our freedoms and ensure this idea for the future generations, a freedom we often take for granted.

With the growth of socialistic rhetoric and ideology becoming mainstream - those freedoms will begin to shrink and the bright light on the hill is getting bleak. Our founding fathers knew that our great nation had to be built on Liberty and Freedom to keep our independence from other nations as well as insured freedoms from our own governing system. Historically socialism has shown to challenge a nations freedoms and dramatically change or shift power away from the people. Our nation has been built and proven to be one of the greatest social experiments that this world has ever seen. Some of the virtues that our nation and social structure are based on and are in direct contrast to the ideology of socialism. Makes me wonder - what would old George say about this?
