A portion of the sale of this memorial patch will be donated again this year to the 9/11 Memorial Foundation just as we did last year. Last year we were able to make a great donation- and hoping to continue this tradition every year in memory of 09.11 and help support the memorial and help preserve this day so that others NEVER FORGET!

I am very excited about the deep meaning of this memorial patch. Read more below for why we did this art, and are using it for our 2019 memorial patch.

WHY A FIST? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
The fist icon has been used all over the world for different peoples, different struggles, and different symbolic movements in history. The essential meaning of such a clinched fist is a “symbol of solidarity and support. It is also used as a salute to express unity, strength, defiance or resistance.” Also note that different movements have used both right and left hands as symbols of strength and resistance. We chose the RIGHT hand as this is the hand used to both for a salute and to place over you heart when you do the pledge. The art in this special patch combines the fist a symbol of unity, strength and hard work (shown with bloody busted knuckles), within the symbol of a pentagon, the skyline NYC (the twin towers) and both historically important dates- 09.11 & 09.12.

09.12 - WHY?
It is tragic all that was lost on that dark day of 09.11.01- but amazing to see how we rose up and reacted-triumphant and resilient as we came together on 09.12.01. American flags sold out at every imaginable retail outlet and the world stood in solidarity with us, and we as Americans stood together united as we rose up as one. We showed our strength as a country came together, mourned together, rebuilt together and fought back together- UNITED!

We have since struggled as a country to unweave that 09.12 moment, a memorable and remarkable time of unity. We must not forget how genuine and real that unity once was. Our political divisions and subtle agendas continue to keep us growing apart. Our ideals and core values are dividing us and keeping us from true unity. We must NEVER FORGET our darkest of hours- in order to understand how to make our brightest of days without constant opposition and strain. I am hoping that 09.11 will always be a mark in history that is never forgotten. For the many heroes, family, friends and fellow Americans- we suffered great losses and for that should ALWAYS them as well as our response in coming together in unity on 09.12 as we rose back up.

There is no question that unification is hard work and will take much effort to stand on common ground and squelch out societal divisions. We must never forget our darkest of days and brightest of responses. We must never forget that it takes coming together with hard work to unite us and mend our wounds and the soul of our nation.
